Schizophrenia is often recognized through symptoms such as hallucinations or delusions, but the path to care may begin with quieter changes. National Schizophrenia Awareness Day provides an opportunity to focus on early recognition, timely treatment, and the importance of supporting individuals and families without judgment.

Schizophrenia can affect perception, thought, emotion, motivation, communication, and everyday functioning. Symptoms vary widely and may include disorganized speech, social withdrawal, reduced emotional expression, difficulty concentrating, and problems managing ordinary responsibilities. No single symptom or experience defines everyone with the condition.
